Let us continue our meditation on the tale of Ruth. I can easily relate to the story, as I have had to start over after a fall, falter or failure. Like Ruth, sometimes, the reason for the fall are beyond your control. It happens, and you find yourself in the middle of it, left alone to face the consequences like Mephibosheth. Sometimes, they occur due to your foolery or fault. In all, one thing is required-you need to rise up again.
In this story is the full mechanization of how life deals with different people. How God orchestrates events to happen for the benefit of multiple people, at the same time. I am honored to have experienced this multifaceted way that God proves Himself in the life of people.
Long before Ruth came back with Naomi, Boaz had made substantial investments in farming, looking forward to a harvest that would bring him profits. While he spent his time sowing barley seeds, Ruth was also sowing and invested her time in loyalty and learning from Naomi. The harvest of the hard work of both Boaz and Ruth was to be ready for reaping at the same time.
Ruth was ready to be a wife again by the time of the barley harvest. Her learning and loyalty had come full circle. It was time for a new season for her. Boaz by the inspiration of God said the following words over her; “The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.”
Not long after, the thoughts of marriage came to Naomi’s mind concerning her, and she said unto Ruth, “My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?” They were other ladies around Boaz but Naomi knew just what to say to help her get his attention.
Ruth experienced favour from Boaz. Favour is simply positive response. This is often a response to what you have done or doing at the moment. Ruth experienced positive response from Boaz, the way Esther got positive response from King Ahasuerus. Boaz attested to hearing all she has done for her mother in-law and how she left her country to become part of a people she doesn’t know.
Boaz farming season brought about a bountiful harvest and a wife for him. Ruth loyalty paid off, and she had her husband as recompense. Everyone made it happen for themselves, by the actions they chose to take long before then. It didn’t come by mistake to them. They all reaped because they sowed.
