LIFE OF YOUR DREAMS

May 11, 2025

Joseph told his family his dream, “I saw the sun, moon and eleven stars bow to me.” His dream was immediately interpreted by both his brothers and father. They didn’t know it was only a scene from the life of his dreams that Joseph saw and told them. The scope of the dream was much more than that – men from different countries would come to him daily and bow before him. But bowing down to another man was alien to them in their household. Only rulers are given this honor, and they had no king over them. “Would you have rule over us?” His brothers asked Joseph. This was a difficult dream for them to accept.

They had the gift to interpret dreams in the family. But Joseph’s first dream got him into trouble. With his grandiose dream, there was no way anybody was going to come to him with their own dreams for interpretation. His gift had hit a wall. He had the a gift in the place where no one has a problem that would require his help or services.

To achieve this dream life, God got everyone in his household to step up and play a role. They all went on the adventure of bringing Joseph’s dream to pass. All Joseph did was align his daily existence to his deepest values, passions and purpose. He embraced the uncertainty, faced the fear, stepped into the unknown, everytime he was thrown into it. He kept growing, not knowing that his passion to help others, his values of godliness and goodness, and his purpose to see “his dream life” all sum up as a solution, and this solution was seeking for the appropriate problems and environment to manifest.

Joseph already had a dream life he looked forward to. He knew what he would experience in order to know that he was indeed living his dream. It was clearly defined for him. Have you defined your dream? It is crucial to clearly define what living your dream would mean to you, in terms of impact, creating meaningful connections with other people and financial independence.

Joseph had the courage to act. Courage implies taking the step in spite of the risks, challenge or excitement involved. His courage was peculiar. He rejected advances from his brothers to belong, and occasions of excitable pleasure from Potiphar’s wife. He faced criticism and failure, persevering through the hurdles. His focus was on building a life of his dreams with quality materials.

Joseph never missed out of the joy of the journey. While his ultimate dream was crucial, he didn’t miss out on the everyday moments of growth, discovery, and connection with others. He was always concerned about doing right with others. He reported his brothers’ wrongdoings, was thrown into jail for lies told against him, and still maintained the state of mind to care for Pharaoh’s servants who looked worried.

Joseph was sensitive to his dream. His brothers had made him aware that his dream pointed to being a ruler and when he eventually met with someone who stood before Pharaoh in the palace, he had the courage to make a call for action: “Please remember me when you get to the palace,” he told Pharaoh’s Cup Bearer.
He was remembered when Pharaoh needed answer to his dream.

Joseph eventually experienced his dream life where everyone, except Pharaoh paid obeisance to him, including his eleven brothers from another country. His influence came from providing interpretation to a dream, just like they interpreted his own dream. What made the difference was that, he added an execution plan to preserve farm produce for future consumption for Pharaoh’s dream.

Be like Joseph.
Have a dream you look forward to. Align your dream to values and a passion to help others. Seek for the way to accomplish it. Enjoy the everyday journey living with your values and passions as guide. Add something extra to help people as you provide solutions to them. Be sensitive and have the courage to take the steps you need. Your dream life awaits you.
