One of the first dreamers in biblical scripture was known as Nimrod. He was introduced as a hunter, but he became the leader of the people with an aspiration to build a skyscraper to reach heaven at Babel. The Burj Khalifa in Dubai – UAE, is the tallest building on earth right now, at 828 meters, but a people led by a supposed hunter had the aspiration to build a tower to the sky. The sky is about 12 kilometers from the earth. These people were to build a structure 12 times higher than the Burj Khalifa.
Let’s look at some remarkable traits that resonate from these people:
Led by their dream, they overcame fear. Fear is a natural part of life, but it can be paralyzing if we let it control us. When we chase our dreams, it encourages us to confront our fears, and not let them dictate our actions, or hold us back from pursuing our dreams.
Dreams and aspirations are personal and unique to each individual. They represent our deepest desires and what we truly want to achieve in life. When our personal purpose align to any cause, we pour our lives into making it a success. This is why the people at the Tower of Babel prioritized their dream over the external pressures or any internal doubts. Imagine everyone, no matter what their job was, engaged wholeheartedly in the dream to build a tower to heaven, when it was still an agrarian society.
The people believed in themselves first. They were led by the dreams in their hearts, which made them take charge of their destiny. These people building a tower to heaven didn’t complain of shortage of supplies, with the gigantic project they were undertaking, but their descendants many years later in Egypt, under Pharaoh, was complaining of lack of materials for their work. Truly, when it is your dream, you make the choices that align with your values and the goals you want to meet. You don’t wait to simply react to circumstances or fears.
Your dream makes you become inspired and motivated. Your dream serves as your greatest source of motivation and encouragement. It reminds you that your potential is not limited by your fears, but expanded by your hopes and what you intend to achieve. The Tower of Babel dream was a motivation for the people to serve in whatever capacity they could.
Dreams when adequately pursued, helps you kill fears and doubts. All fears and doubts were eliminated at the Tower of Babel, it can happen again with our own dreams. It’s time to chase the dream.
