Find the Men

September 11, 2025

If you have a vision that keeps you up at night and a purpose that gets you out of bed in the morning, you are destined for greatness in your career, your business, your ministry, your life. But here is the timeless secret every successful person has learnt; Great success is never a solo mission.

The ancient biblical proverb says, “He who walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” Your associations are your accelerants. The right partnership can catapult you years ahead of schedule. The wrong one can sink your ship before it even leaves the harbor.

This is not about collecting business cards or amassing LinkedIn connections. This is a deeper, more profound quest. It is about finding The Man or The Woman, the right person whose presence in your life becomes a force multiplier for your work and destiny.

But how do you find them? How do you identify these pivotal people amidst the noise of the crowd? Here are the strategies to guide your search.

Everyone will clap for you when you win. The world is full of cheerleaders for success. But you don’t need applause; you need direction.

The right association provides a compass. They are the ones who tell you the truth when it is hard to hear. They ask the difficult questions: “Is this strategy truly serving your mission?” or “Have you considered the unintended consequence of that decision?” They are not there to protect your feelings; they are there to protect your purpose.

Identify someone in your circle who has earned the right to speak candidly into your life. If no one comes to mind, actively seek out those known for their wisdom and integrity, not just their accolades. Value constructive criticism over empty praise.

It is comfortable to surround yourself with people who think like you, act like you, and share your exact skillset. This is a big trap. Comfort is the enemy of growth.

You don’t need another you. If you are a visionary, you need an executor. If you are a creative, you need an analyst. If you are a fire-starter, you need a fire-marshal. The right association fills your gaps and covers your blind spots. Together, you form a complete arsenal. Your weakness is their strength, and vice versa. This helps you create an alliance that is resilient, adaptable, and powerful.

Honestly audit your weaknesses. Where do you consistently struggle? Now, make it your mission to find and connect with individuals who excel in those very areas.

Anyone can be a great partner when the sun is shining and the profits are rolling in. The true test of character happens in the valley, during a crisis, a failure, or a season of lack.

Pay attention to how a potential partner, associate or staff handles pressure, disappointment, and scarcity. Do they blame others or take responsibility? Do they cut corners or uphold integrity? Do they hoard resources or share them? The right association will have a character that is resilient, generous, and principled, especially when no one is watching. This is the bedrock of trust.

Before forging a deep alliance, put yourself in a minor, high-pressure situation with them, maybe a tight deadline project or a complex problem. Observe their response. It will tell you everything you need to know.

The most critical filter for any association is vision alignment. Do they believe in the same future you are trying to build? Do their core values resonate with yours? An opportunist is only with you for what you can give them today. A visionary partner is with you for the world you can build tomorrow. This shared “purpose” creates a bond that transcends temporary setbacks and fleeting gains.

Have conversations that go beyond the projects and titles, delve into the purpose and beliefs. If their eyes don’t light up when talking about the future you envision, keep looking.

You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. What is the energy you have being that average?

Some people are anchors. They drain your vitality with negativity, cynicism, and drama. Every interaction leaves you feeling heavier and more doubtful. Others are accelerators. Their passion, optimism, and proactive energy are contagious. They leave you feeling inspired, empowered, and ready to conquer the world.

The right association accelerates your energy. They don’t just believe in your dream; their very presence makes you believe in it more yourself.

After you interact with someone, check your emotional barometer. Do you feel drained and depleted, or energized and elevated? Start consciously moving toward the energy givers.

Finding The Man is not about luck. It is a deliberate, strategic pursuit. It is about knowing your own blueprint so well that you can recognize the missing pieces when you see them in others.

Stop mere networking and start connecting to nation-building. Stop seeking transactions and start seeking transformations. Look for the compass, the complementary strength, the unwavering character, the aligned vision, and the positive energy.

Go forth with intention. Be the right person that others are looking for, and you will inevitably attract the same. Find these people, lock arms with them, and together, build the empire you were destined to create.
