A wise elderly man spoke these words to me: “Have the courage to demand from life what you want.” As I ruminated on those words that day, I stumbled on Oprah Winfrey’s quote, “You get in life what you have the courage to ask for.” In life, what you want, is what you get. While every seed holds the promise of an harvest, it lies on the farmer to demand the harvest by sowing the seed. You must have the courage to make the demand.
The courage to ask often involves overcoming fear or failure. It’s about stepping out, risking discomfort, facing doubts and obstacles for potential growth, opportunity and rewards.
Sometimes, placing the demand is the first step in creating opportunities that didn’t previously exist. It can lead to new projects, collaborations, or paths that you might not have considered.
Taking the initiative to ask empowers you to take control of your life’s direction. It’s about actively shaping your future rather than passively waiting for things to happen.
Asking for what you want requires self-awareness and confidence. It means understanding your needs and desires, and being willing to voice them. This involves have a sense of direction leading to a more fulfilling life.
