We often hear people say, “Find your inner strength.” This is a powerful call to self-reliance. What if profound strength does not necessarily come from only within? What if true, unshakable power comes from knowing how to borrow strength?
There are moments in life when your own strength seems too little for the weight you must carry. Your goals look overwhelming, the deadlines confronting you seem impossible, and the demands of life, career, business, and even ministry can stretch you beyond your limits. In such moments, it is not failure to admit you are tired. It is wisdom to realize you were never designed to go through life alone. True success is not sustained by personal power alone; it is often fueled by what we call Borrowed Strength.
Borrowed strength is not weakness, it is the ability to draw from greater sources when your own reserves run low. It is the humility to receive help, the courage to depend on others, and the faith to rely on God’s unending power.
The greatest source of strength is divine. Human power has limits, but God’s power is endless. When you feel drained, lean into His presence. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.”
Through prayer, worship, and meditation on God’s Word, you tap into supernatural endurance. His strength stabilizes you in crisis, energizes your vision, and empowers your purpose. True success begins when you stop trying to do everything in your own might and start relying on God’s grace.
Sometimes, God strengthens us through others. You are not meant to walk this journey alone. Wise partnerships, supportive relationships, mentors, and true friends can lift you when life feels heavy. Borrow courage from those who believe in you when you doubt yourself. In relationships and business alike, collaboration multiplies your capacity. Every great leader, achiever, or visionary borrows strength from the circle they keep. The right community refines your ideas, refreshes your faith, and reignites your motivation. Yesterday afternoon, I had two calls that helped me refine projects we are currently working on, and the best parts of it was the calls were not planned; they were basically check up calls that ended as strategy sessions with senior friends.
Purpose is a renewable source of inner strength. When challenges arise, purpose gives you a reason to keep moving. It turns obstacles into opportunities and pain into progress.
When you remember why you started, whether it is to impact lives, build something meaningful, or serve a higher calling, you find fresh motivation to persist. Purpose gives direction to your energy and meaning to your struggles. Success that endures is not born from comfort but from conviction on its purpose.
When the future feels uncertain, look back and remember how far you have come. Every past challenge you overcame is proof that you have been equipped to face new ones. Reflecting on your journey rekindles confidence. In your career, remember the deals you closed when no one believed in you. In ministry, recall the souls you reached when you felt unqualified. In life, celebrate the times you stood again after a fall. Each testimony is a reservoir of strength, so borrow from it.
Success does not come from constant activity; it comes from strategic renewal. Even eagles know they must pause to soar again. Rest refreshes your creativity, restores clarity, and resets your spirit. Borrow strength by giving yourself permission to pause, to pray, to reflect, to breathe. Jesus Himself withdrew often to renew His strength before returning to His mission. In rest, you regain focus; in renewal, you recover power.
Borrowed strength is not a sign of inadequacy. It is a strategy for sustainability. It is knowing when to lean, when to learn, and when to let go. You may not always feel strong, but you can always borrow strength from faith, people, purpose, history, and rest.
Success, therefore, is not about being tireless, it is about being wise enough to draw from every source God has placed around you. Because those who learn to borrow strength never run out of it.
