COMPOUND PROGRESS

June 25, 2025

Welcome to Episode One Hundred and Seventy-Six.

We bring you Everyday Sense that helps improve your life and career.

Our topic today is COMPOUND PROGRESS.

Recently, I listened to an interview where a man recounted how his life plummeted down, when his Four Billion Dollar company crumbled and his wife divorced him in the midst of the business chaos. He lost his wife, but eventually overcame the ordeal and built up the company to a higher value of over Nine Billion Dollars.

In life, a shipwreck is not a fairy tale. Your business can lie in ruins. Your health can become a great concern. Your marriage can dissolve. Everything you once built and knew yourself to be – entrepreneur, husband, partner, can become a distant memory. Rebuilding your life or business at that moment will look like a mountainous activity, an impossible mission.

While wallowing in a sea of disappointment, the comeback you plot requires a weapon. Under the circumstances, an arsenal of brute force wouldn’t do much good, but deploying the stealth
aggregation of compound progress through micro focus, would work wonders.

Micro-steps or baby steps, choose as you would like to call them, are like life rafts when you are drowning in failure and grief. They are not grand or fanciful, but they help you bypass resistance by starting small. The first action matters. That initiative to make the phone call to reach out to someone, whether client or friend. The courage to take the stance to exercise to do 10 push ups, to read 5 pages of a book or listen to a soul lifting message. Micro-steps when repeated builds evidence and gives leverage. Five push ups done daily will build a ripped body. One phone call made everyday for your business can eventually build a horde of clientele.

You can navigate your way to rise up when you assess and learn using micro-reflection technique. Spend a short time daily to review and get insights that can help you strategize and avoid such pitfalls.

Use micro-networking to reconnect with people. Making daily small effort to rekindle relationships by genuine connections can help rebuild trust that uncover business opportunities. It can also help rebuild bonds of friendships to combat isolation and strengthen support.

Upgrade yourself by micro-learning. You can begin by reading everyday for a limited time or set a limit in the number of pages. Your progress will compound. The knowledge you will acquire will fill certain gaps you have to help you build the confidence you need and add value to yourself and what you do.

Work on a project with micro-execution. Set yourself to accomplish small tasks in your business as you begin again. Make a sales call. Work on a project idea. Make a post on social media. Small actions done daily build compound effect.

And lastly, you can use micro-gratitude to be thankful. Yes, you might be down and you don’t have much going for you, but you can write down a single thing you are grateful to God for. This perspective of gratitude shifts your mind to build hope for other good things to happen.

Compound progress is a proven method. You may not see the effect at first, but it will help you get the clarity you need to identify the rituals for your daily routine. This routine will culminate eventually as the small actions that build the success you sought for.
