It is undeniable that answers to prayers constitute one of the greatest desires of human beings. If you have a desire, you can have a prayer, and thus, you need answers or manifestation of your desires. Regrettably, not many experience answers to their prayers, giving credence to the height of religiosity amongst the populace.
Jesus Christ, in His treatise on prayer, pointed out that God wasn’t interested in a verbose show of intellectual sagacity like the Pharisees, or complex ritual procedures like the prophets of Baal, even if He understands them, as the all-knowing God. In scripture, we will find that for people who prayed and got answers like Hannah, Jabez, Nehemiah, etc, they all had a certain similarity to their personality and prayer.
Their prayer were all simple entreaties to the All Powerful God. Hannah said, “Give me a son and I will give him back to you.” Jabez cried, “That you would bless me indeed.” Nehemiah softly whispered, “Give me favor with the king.”
Three similarities cut across them all:
1. The CLARITY of their desires. God will not answer a prayer that is ambiguous and lacking in clarity. The words came out clear and simple with what they wanted.
2. They were CONSCIOUS and mindful of what they were saying to God. Don’t stand to pray and your mind is somewhere else.
3. They had the CAPABILITIES for the answers they sought. Hannah was ready to be a mother, Jabez was honorable at heart, he wanted God’s blessings to live above negative labels, Nehemiah was ready to leave his current office as cup bearer, to serve in Jerusalem many miles away as nation builder.
When we seek God by ourselves, He waits for us to arrive at the place where we achieve congruence in clarity, consciousness and capacity, for us to see the answers to our prayers.
The scripture declares, O God that answers prayers, unto You shall all flesh come. God awaits us to pray, so He can answer. Our simple prayers can be answered.
