An elderly man in his eighties said these words to me with sobs, “I failed to pursue all the aspirations I had in my heart when I was young. Now I see men younger tha I am doing and succeeding in them, and I bow down in regret. I didn’t have the courage to pursue my dreams the way I should.” Though he was having quite a comfortable life in his eighties, he spoke from a place of pain orchestrated by regret.
One of the greatest path anyone can walk in life is to do something that your future self can thank you for. The way to do this is to make the decisions and take actions on the things that will give you long-term benefits.
Invest time and resources in building yourself and family to gain new skills and enhance old skills in areas relevant to your future goals. Nurture relationships by being supportive to the dreams of others where possible. Few things can be compared to the joy you get by looking back at your life or the life of others, and see that you succeeded in playing your role right, when and where it mattered most.
Make great choices that promote long-term health, and actions that can provide financial security and freedom in the future. Building a legacy begins from how effective the decisions and actions you take are for the better of othe people.
Lastly, always have it at heart that everything you do counts. This mindset makes you mindful and helps you reflect on the goals you have, to assist you lay hold on the values which make necessary adjustments to ensure your actions align to being about what you desire in the future.
